It would be politically suicidal if NPP changes Dr. Bawumia for a new Presidential Candidate in 2028 General elections.

The outspoken NPP Former Constituency Youth Organizer, Former Ag Constituency Communication Officer for Kintampo North, Former Chairman of Bono East Regional Youth Wing working Committee and a member of Bono East Regional Communication team, Hon Joseph Nanga Nyindam (Mutumina), has said that it would be politically suicidal and unwise to change the 2024 Presidential Candidate, Dr Alhaji Mahamud Bawumia for a new face in the 2028 general elections if the party wants to win power.
These were among other reasons for his view;

Established Brand & Marketability
Dr. Bawumia is recognized nationwide. He is “most marketed” candidate and would save party resources and build on existing voter awareness.

Historical Precedent for Consistency
Past presidents (J.A. Kufuor, Prof. J.E.A. Mills, Nana Akufo-Addo, and President Mahama) lost elections in their first attempts but won after being maintained by their parties.

Investment & Vindication of Ideas
Changing the candidate wastes the political “investments,” and some believe his policy ideas are being vindicated post-2024.

We in the NPP believe in consistency and what it had yielded for us in the past. Maintaining him prepares us ahead of schedule and against our political opponents who are yet to set their road maps for their internal elections.

Maintaining Dr. Bawumia and giving him massive endorsement pushes him ahead of his peers and setting the pace for political victory come December 2028.

Call to Action
It is therefore important that the Presidential Primaries campaign be conducted devoid of name calling, insults, and personal attacks. This will limit the opposition of getting enough information about Dr. Mahamud Bawumia from within NPP as happened in 2024 General elections.

It is also very important that the delegates give Dr. Alhaji Mahamud Bawumia, a massive endorsement come 31st January 2026 to make him more appealing to send home a signal that the NPP is ready to take over the mantle of leadership from the NDC in 2028.

Let’s unite around the elephant to victory 2028.
