Energy Commission Senior High Schools
Renewable Challenge.

As the world is ruled by technology, the senior high schools across the country, especially those offering science courses, have been tasked to make good use of technology to solve societal problems.
The Ghana Energy Commission, in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES) and TEVET Ghana, has since 2019 empowered high schools across the country to practically come up with solutions to everyday problems encountered by all sectors.
The program which has been organised on a regional basis brings together students from different senior high schools across the region to meet at Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School to kick-start this year’s competition under the theme:
Sustainable Energy For A Healthier Future.
With The Focus Areas Being Food Security, waste management and Health Delivery.
The participants include: Bawku Senior High School, Bolgatanga Senior High School, Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School, Navorongo Technical Senior High School, Sherigu Integrated Senior High School, St. John’s Senior Technical School , also from Navorongo, and Our Lady of Lourdes Senior High School, also from Navorongo.
Bolgatanga Senior High School (BIG BOSS) emerged winners of the 2025 Regional Competition of the Energy Commission Senior High Schools Renewable Energy Challenge with 70.7 points whilst the host school Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School became 2nd with 66.3 points
Bolgatanga Senior High School will represent the Upper East Region at the zonal competition.
After the competition, Mr Ansah Nyarko from the Ghana Energy Commission, who supervised the entire competition, encouraged the students to take the competition very seriously and improve their projects to help them win the national award.
