In a recent development, Mr. Peter Ayinbisa Ayamaga, the Upper East Regional Communication Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), raised concerns regarding the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s decision to summon the Honorable Nikyema Billa Alamzy, the Member of Parliament for the Chiana-Paga constituency, to appear before the party’s Functional Executive Committee. This invitation was prompted by remarks made by Alamzy concerning the NDC’s “Thank You” tour, led by their National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

During an appearance on the BlueWaves Breakfast Show, Mr. Ayinbisa commended Alamzy for his candidness, stating, “What is the purpose of this ‘Thank You’ tour? Over the past nine months, we’ve seen no new jobs created and no real development. Why should I be thanked for what?” His comments reflect a growing discontent with the current state of governance and a call for accountability.

Further, Ayinbisa urged the NDC to refrain from penalizing its members for expressing their honest opinions. He encouraged Alamzy to confront the committee with courage, as indicated in the summons letter he received.

In addition, Mr. Ayinbisa made a distinction between the current situation and past events involving the NPP’s Deputy National Communications Director, Mr. Owusu Bempah. He clarified that Bempah’s actions had been characterized as anti-party misconduct, which justified his own summons to the National Executive Committee of the NPP. This differentiation underscores the complexity of internal party dynamics and the varying standards applied across political lines.

He then advised the party leadership and executives to refrain from declaring support for any candidate contesting in the upcoming presidential primaries on January 31st. He cited instances that show they are not obligated to do so, but for the sake of unity and togetherness, he believes it would be one of the best approaches
