Investigative Journalist Stabbed in Kumasi After Bus Fare Dispute Turns Violent

An investigative journalist, Isaac Nsiah Foster, was brutally stabbed on his way home in Kumasi after a heated altercation with a commercial bus conductor over a 50 pesewa fare dispute. The incident occurred shortly after Foster had boarded a TD bus with registration number GW 23 33 – 10, white colour, at Airport Roundabout and requested his rightful change. The confrontation escalated, and upon arrival at his stop near Buokrom Estates junction, the conductor, driver, and an accomplice attacked him with sharp objects, stabbing him in the thigh despite his efforts to defend himself.
Foster, a paralegal and a human rights director with the Africa Liberators and Economic Institute (ALEI), had recently reported on the arrest of West Africa’s most wanted criminal, Ibrahim Kayaba. He described police negligence after attempting to report the assault at two different stations, claiming officers demanded a bribe before assigning a CID. The attack raises alarming questions about journalist safety and police accountability in Ghana.
Speaking on Bluewaves Radio 93.7
He told Mr Maurice Duncan the host of the Bluewaves Breakfast show that it’s high time we should stand up for the truth as journalists as we are not just mere citizens but as a constitutionally mandated body who fight for justice and equity .
